Benzophenone is often used as a UV blocker. Benzophenone is an organic compound whose formula is (C6H5)2CO, and shortened to Ph2CO.
Benzophenone is also added to perfumes and soaps to prevent ultraviolet light from damaging their scent and colour. Benzophenone is also found in plastic packaging material. This allows products to be packed in clear glass or plastic instead of opaque material without ultraviolet light causing discolouration. You can see what you’re buying.
